Live Online Webinar
with Eli Andrew Ramer, the author of "Two Flutes Playing" & "Two Hearts Dancing!" Queer Spirits Rising in Troubled Times: The Power of "Coming In!" Discovering our sacred responsibility to “come in” to who we are as mystics, lovers, and healers! |
Spirit Journeys is delighted to offer a very special webinar with Queer Walks-Between Elder and Maggid Eli Andrew Ramer. In this playful and profound live online experience, Eli will share his understanding of where we are as a queer community, where we’re going, and our sacred responsibility to “come in” – “coming in to who we are as mystics, lovers, and healers.” In our time together, he will share stories, movement practices, and other meditation techniques to deepen your embodied experience of coming into your own wisdom and power.
On Friday evening, Eli will share about his own journey, and the profound importance of "coming in" at this crucial moment in planetary history – a time of radical cultural change, profound suffering, environmental devastation – and tremendous responsibility.
On Saturday morning, he will be sharing his groundbreaking, visionary gay spirit classic, “Two Flutes Playing,” which offers a vision of a compelling, very real, and essential vision of our gifts as “walks-between” people, born into this historic moment with desperately needed gifts for all human beings, and for the planet itself.
On Saturday afternoon, he will reflect upon his newest book – and the companion book to Two Flutes Playing – “Two Hearts Dancing.” Drawing on the Gay Wisdom Archetypes that fill the stories and poems of this collection, Eli will discuss the wisdom, power, and profound love inherent in our experience as Gay Men, and invite us to awaken those capacities in ourselves.
You are invited to participate in this live webinar through Zoom, but the broadcast will be recorded for later viewing if you cannot attend any part of the scheduled sessions. The focus of this work will be GBTQ men, but kindred spirits are welcome! There will be time for discussion, questions, and answers as well.

Andrew Elias Ramer is a Maggid (Jewish sacred storyteller) living in San Francisco, California. Born in Queens, New York in 1951, he believes that the prophetic tradition and storytelling are one and the same. The job of a storyteller is to create a narrative that holds a group together, forms the fabric of thought that a community or village of people inhabit. Andrew grew into being a maggid through many moments and teachers. He was spiritually formed through many communities including the Gay Spirit Visions Conference in North Carolina, and the New York Healing Circle, which flourished during the early AIDS years. His mentors, collaborators and guides have included Charles Lawrence, Donna Cunningham, Harry Hay, Raven Wolfdancer, Rabbi Benay Lappe, and Rabbi Dev Noily. He is a member and one of many lay leaders at Congregation Sha’ar Zahav in San Francisco. After years of spiritual wandering, it was in Torah study with Dev Noily at Sha’ar Zahav that he found wisdom, comfort and a rich new way to live as a Queer Jewish man. Andrew writes in a genre he calls "queer feminist speculative-fiction theology" and is the author of four books of midrash: Queering the Text: Biblical, Medieval, and Modern Jewish Stories; Torah Told Different; Deathless; and Fragments of the Brooklyn Talmud, with a fifth due out in 2022, Texting with Angels. He's also the author of Revelations for New Millennium; Angel Answers; and a co-author of Ask Your Angels; The Spiritual Dimensions of Healing Addictions and Further Dimensions of Healing Addictions.

"Divine eros is something far superior to one’s love for God. It is a kind of madness … a precise love of God - complete with sacrifices – simmers slowly inside the heart; then, just like steam, divine eros (which cannot be held back) bursts forth and unites with God … Divine madness takes a person beyond the earth’s pull; it lifts him up to the Throne of God, and makes him feel like a puppy at his master’s feet; a puppy licking His Feet joyfully and with reverence…" -- Saint Paisios
