SpiritFund is a scholarship program designed to help make it possible for people to attend our retreats or workshops who would not be able to do so without the fund. Some of us have experienced the trauma of suddenly losing a partner, or had dramatic shifts in employment or health. During such times, extra expenses might limit access to the sort of healing work Spirit Journeys offers. There are many others who could also benefit from such a fund: young people just starting their "working" lives, couples with children and only one income, those that currently have a low income, etc. How do I donate to SpiritFund?
Just click on the "Make a Donation" button at the top or bottom of this page. If you are not a member of Spirit Journeys, you will be prompted to create an account. If you are a member, just login using your username and password. Donations can be made by credit card or check. Are there incentives for SpiritFund donors?
YES! We will credit your Spirit Journeys account with 10% of the amount you donate. This 10% is not deducted from your donation, can be used toward any future Spirit Journey event and has no expiration date. Every time you make a donation, more money is credited to your Spirit Journeys account! What events are covered by SpiritFund scholarships?
Scholarships are currently only available for our Retreats or Workshops, but not our Journeys. If you wish to financially help someone to attend one of our Journeys (or any of our events), you are welcome to purchase a Gift Certificate for him (or her). Just click on the "Buy A Gift Certificate" button at the top or bottom of this page. How do I apply for SpiritFund scholarship?
Click on the "Apply for a Scholarship" button at the top or bottom of this page. Fill out the contact information requested and we will call you in one or two business days. How are scholarships awarded?
For each Retreat or Workshop, a limited number of scholarships are awarded primarily based on need. The secondary consideration is time of application. We will be working on a "first come, first serve" basis. After you fill out the scholarship request form, we will call you to set up two phone interviews. One of the phone interviews will be conducted by Spirit Journeys staff and the other interview will be by a volunteer. There will be no forms to fill out or documentation to submit because the entire process is "honor-based." After both phone interviews are complete, the interviewers will discuss your application and you will be contacted. How do I volunteer to assist SpiritFund?

In addition to the 10% donor incentive, Spirit Jouneys will add an additional $50 to all awarded scholarships. How many scholarships are available for each workshop or retreat?
We will endeavor to have at least one scholarship available for each Workshop or Retreat. However, the amount of money donated will have a direct bearing on whether we can do this or not. What is the amount of a SpiritFund scholarship?
The amount of a scholarship is determined by:
1. The applicant's level of need.
2. The amount of money that has been donated to SpiritFund.
3. The number of available scholarships for an event. How do I know that my donation is really going to the SpiritFund scholarship program?
Just as we are trusting that those people that apply for a scholarship truly need the financial assistance, we ask for your trust that donations will be handled honorably. However, we will make financial disclosures in our newsletter that will show:
1. Total amount of money donated.
2. Total number of donors.
3. Expenses (primarily deduction of credit card fees and bank fees).
4. Total donated money available for scholarships.
5. Total amount contributed to SpiritFund by Spirit Journeys.
6. The number of awarded scholarships.
7. Total amount of money awarded. Are SpiritFund scholarships kept confidential?
Yes. Scholarship recipients' names and all other information will never be disclosed without their written permission. Are SpiritFund donors kept confidential?
Yes. Donor names and all other information will never be disclosed without their written permission. Are SpiritFund donations tax deductable?
No, unfortunately at this time donations are not tax deductable. If the SpiritFund program does well, as we hope it will, we will apply for not-for-profit status.
